Ben Affleck surprised his long-term pal Matt Damon in a sweet moment at last night’s Golden Globes.

The duo have been friends for decades and even won an Oscar together for their 1997 flick Good Will Hunting - and, judging by this clip, it seems that the pair are always happy to be reunited.

In the footage, Damon can be seen sat without his tuxedo jacket on as he chats to his wife Luciana Barroso during a commercial break in the proceedings.

Spotting his friend, Affleck sneaks over and takes the seat beside Damon, who turns and breaks into a huge smile as he recognises his mate.

The pair then give each other a big hug as they chat. Wholesome, eh?

The sweet clip hit fans of the pair right in the warm and fuzzies, with one person saying: “It must be awesome to have a true friend from back then before all the madness happened. I‘m happy for Matt and Ben. That’s so real and rare in Hollywood.”

Someone else said: “One of the most underrated friendships in Hollywood.”

A third commented: “Knowing someone for decades and decades and being that ecstatic to see them is very adorable.”

Affleck and Damon reunited again later on, when they met up to present the Best Director - Motion Picture award to Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer.

Damon and Affleck have been friends since the 1980s and have worked together throughout their careers.

The pair even set up their own production company: Artists Equity, which launched its first project biopic AIR last year.

The film follows the origin of the Air Jordan shoe line as a Nike, Inc. employee seeks to strike a business deal with rookie basketball player Michael Jordan.

The film was a hit with critics and holds a near-perfect 93 percent on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

AIR was the movie in a line of collaborations including Dogma, The Last Duel and School Ties.

For Good Will Hunting, they received positive critical acclaim and even scooped a Golden Globe of their own for Best Screenplay - Motion Picture, as well as an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Robin Williams.

In March last year, Damon let slip that Affleck had been pitched an idea for a sequel to the movie.

He told Variety: “Someone just tried to pitch Ben Good Will Hunting 2.

“I s**t you not - that happened. He told me today. He was like, ‘You’re not going to believe what I heard.’ This was a flat-out sequel. I don’t get it.”

However, when Affleck was asked about a potential sequel, he was very tight-lipped.

“Matt is always telling stories that he should not be telling,” he said.

When asked for details, Affleck replied: “It’s not a sequel we’re going to pursue.”
