Just over a year on from Matthew Perry’s death, one of his co-stars has revealed she recently discovered a touching note he left for her in a cookie jar.

The Friends actor, 54, died on 28 October, 2023 and the cast later released a heart-breaking tribute to say they were ‘all so utterly devastated by the loss’.

Perry was known around the world for his role of Chandler Bing as the stars said they ‘were more than just cast mates’.

And since then, the actors have kept his memory alive with Lisa Kudrow opening up about her moving discovery on The Drew Barrymore Show.

When Friends wrapped back in 2004, she recalled how Perry gifted her a cookie jar from the set but she didn’t ever look inside it under much later.

“And I has recently found the note that he had in it for me,” Kudrow explained.

“I hadn't opened it up or looked inside of it. But yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it. Timing's everything."

Star of Netflix’s new series No Good Deed, the actor didn’t reveal just what Perry’s note said but the anecdote did seem to move Barrymore.

Kudrow had previously admitted to long refusing to watch reruns of Friends as she didn’t want to risk not liking her work on the show.

But in an effort to keep the memory of Perry alive, she said she’d been watching episodes back.

“Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I make it about Matthew, then that’s OK,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

“And it’s just celebrating how hilarious he was — and that is what I want to remember [about him].”

Watching Friends back had Kudrow ‘laughing out loud’ as she praised her co-stars.

“I’m blown away by Courteney Cox. I’m blown away by Jen. Matthew, obviously, is just uniquely hilarious. No one ever knew that cadence or comedic rhythm before him. Matt LeBlanc is hilarious. And David Schwimmer, too. Sometimes I even laugh at what I’ve done,” she admitted.

Following the collective tribute from the cast, Kudrow later released a personal tribute on Instagram.

“Shot the pilot, Friends Like Us, got picked up then immediately, we were at the NBC Upfronts. Then… You suggested we play poker AND made it so much fun while we initially bonded. Thank you for that,” the star wrote.

“Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face EVERY DAY. Thank you for your open heart in a six way relationship that required compromise. And a lot of ‘talking’.

“Thank you for showing up at work when you weren’t well and then, being completely brilliant. Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have. Thank you for trusting me.

“Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you. Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew.”
