Mike Tyson only named one of his seven kids after himself and it was his daughter

There's nothing weird about a parent naming their children after themselves. After all, there are a multitude of reasons for why people might do it.

Maybe their own name has been passed down and they want to carry on a tradition. Or perhaps, they simply want have a string connecting them to their offspring.

Either way, it's a common practice in the parenting world. But as with most things, celebrities have taken this and made it...well, weird.

Take Mike Tyson for example.

Admittedly, you might not expect a guy who bit off somebody's ear to play it safe with baby names.

So, does the legendary boxer have a Mike in his flock?

Indeed he does! But it's his daughter - named Mikey Lorna Tyson.

She was born in Harlem, New York City and raised by her mother, Kimberly Scarborough. The former model dated Tyson shortly after his divorce from Robin Givens in 1989.

Meanwhile, the rest of his children are called Exodus, Miguel, Amir, Ramsay - formerly known as Rayna - Milan and Morocco Tyson.

However, Tyson's not the only celebrity to take an unorthodox route when naming his next of kin.

Michael Jackson managed to incorporate his name into his three kids' names.

Seriously.

First there was Michael Joseph 'Prince' Jackson Jr, born in 1997. Then came his only daughter, Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, born a year later.

Okay, a little lazy but he managed to get his name in there somewhere. And lastly came his youngest, Prince Michael 'Blanket' Jackson II.

Jackson's brother, Jermaine, took a similar route whilst naming his sons. His eldest got a matching name - Jermaine Jackson Jr.

Fair enough.

But when it came time to give his youngest a spin on the name, Jermaine took a regal approach shall we say.

Jermajesty Jackson, anyone?

Courteney Cox also opted to name her daughter after a nickname.

Coco came from the first tow letters of Cox's own name - according to her ex-husband, David Arquette.

That's at least original.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith also named their kids after themselves, but not in a way that many would expect.

You might be wondering why you've never heard of a Will Smith Jr or a Jada Pinkett Smith Jr.

Well, the Hollywood couple opted to be different by gender flipping their own names.

Behold, Willow Smith and Jaden Smith.

But that took a while for people online to realise - with the penny finally dropping this year as one person tweeted: "I was today years old when I realized jaden and willow smith’s names are just their parents names in different forms???? Goodbye."

Celebrities always have to go about things differently, don't they?
