Police respond after bloodied Perez Hilton appears to harm himself on TikTok livestream

Police have issued an update on the welfare of Perez Hilton after the American blogger appeared on a live stream covered in blood.

The 48-year-old media personality, who has made a name for himself by writing about some of the biggest celebrities on the planet, left a lot of his fans shocked earlier this week when posting a TikTok livestream.

In the graphic video, the influencer can be seen covered in blood and appears to be engaging in self-harm, which prompted a significant number of calls to the local police.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has now confirmed that Hilton has been safely transported to hospital and issued a statement on their response.

In response to a question about Hilton’s livestream, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, which did not name the star directly, told CNN it 'received multiple calls regarding an individual who was live-streaming acts of self-harm on social media'.

“Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside,” the sheriff’s office said, adding they worked to de-escalate the situation.

Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, is regarded by many as the original influencer, with the father-of-three boasting over a million followers across his social media pages.

“In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the sheriff’s office said. “Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilising crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimise the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public.”

The co-CEOs of the talent management firm that represents Hilton, Golden Artists Entertainment, said in a statement on Tuesday night that they 'are aware of the concerning content circulating online involving our client, Perez Hilton'.

Co-CEOs Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan said: “At this time, we have not been able to make direct contact with him, despite our ongoing efforts to reach him. Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family.”
