Woman compared to 'Lisa Riley' by Peter Kay speaks out in first TV interview after being 'humiliated'

The woman who Peter Kay branded as 'Lisa Riley' said that his decision to kick her out was 'over the top'

The woman who was kicked out of Peter Kay's recent Manchester gig has addressed the incident on Good Morning Britain.

Myar Curran was called 'Lisa Riley' by the British comedian, a soap opera actor that is best known for her time on Emmerdale.

Kay was performing at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday 8 February as part of his Peter Kay Live: Better Late Than Never... Again! tour, and made the decision to kick two hecklers out.

One of these was Curran, who has now called the northern comedian a 'bully'.

In the days following the incident, the comedian addressed the incident with the audience member, explaining in a statement given to GMB: "I didn't realise it was an insult. She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn't realise that was an insult.

"There comes a point when dealing with repeated hecklers simply isn't enough. It's not something you ever want to do but it becomes a point when it's no longer fair to everyone around."

Riley herself even replied on Instagram, saying: "PLEASE [praying hands emojis] draw a line under this now, I am not offended, never was offended. I love Peter Kay to pieces. Laughter is my favourite medicine."

But now, Curran has given her side of the story, claiming that she 'didn't mean to cause any harm', and was simply being supportive, pointing out that she 'wasn't drunk'.

"I was just standing up chanting 'we love you Peter, we do'. It’s just been a bit over the top, his reaction," she insisted on the ITV show.

Though she isn't seeking an apology, Curran thinks that she won't be able to watch him perform again.

In Kay's lengthy statement to GMB, he said that he tried to 'address the situation' and make 'light of it', but was ultimately left with no choice as it continued into the second half of the show.

The audience agreed that it was getting annoying, and Curran and a male audience member were kicked out.

He was removed for repeatedly shouting 'garlic bread', a well-known catchphrase of Kay's.

Admitting she had been 'waiting years' to see him live, the 25-year-old had travelled down from Scotland to see the comedian perform.

"We were so looking forward to it. I lost my mum a couple of years ago and she was supposed to come to the show so it was something that was going to be very special to us," she added.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, she claimed to have no connection to another heckler, though she was also escorted off as Kay said: "Go on, off you go Lisa Riley."

Curran said she broke down into tears when she got back to the hotel, saying: "I do feel he was on about my weight.

"I'm self-conscious about that so to go to a show and feel like you're having the mick taken out of you because of your weight, I was just a bit shocked. I'm annoyed and upset about it.

"The whole arena was laughing, I think they thought it was part of the show but there was a nastiness to his voice," she claimed.

Feeling targeted by the comedian, she further alleged that he was 'trying to get the crowd against me', calling the situation 'rubbish'.

"My whole family was disgusted by it."
