A popular TV personality has shared how much he earned on OnlyFans while being on the site.

The Strictly Come Dancing contestant and Great British Bake Off 2012 winner was a common fixture on screens in the past, even making history by participating in the latter's first same-sex pair, making the final to boot.

But two years ago, John Whaite swore he would never make a TV appearance again after the shock of Steph's Packed Lunch being taken off Channel 4 caught him off guard.

You know what they say, though, when deciding to swear off TV, open an OnlyFans account. Or something like that.

Whaite has been open about his ventures onto the NSFW platform, claiming that the experience gave him 'a sense of complete freedom in my sexuality'.

The Brit initially regretted making an account but fully embraced it as time went on - though Whaite recently announced that he would be stepping away from the platform.

But before calling time, he revealed exactly how much he earned in just 11 months during an Instagram Q&A.

When asked about his earnings and success, he responded: "This is a tricky question, isn’t it?

"I don’t like speaking about personal wealth and income, but it is an elephant in the room as some people think I’ve made millions on OnlyFans and others think I made nothing."

He then revealed: "The truth, honestly, in 11 months I took home $270,000, so it can be a very lucrative platform if I had spent more time on that and more of my time solely to OnlyFans, I probably could have double, tripled, or quadrupled that."

That figure translates to roughly £200,000.

Despite leaving that lifestyle behind him, he praised others who earn a living on OnlyFans, though said that other avenues in his career resonated with him more, such as his work at Ruff Puff Bakehouse.

While saying he'd miss his fans, Whaite spoke about relieving himself of the pressure to stay in shape, looking forward to 'getting a bit fatter'.

The former Bake Off winner even shared a screenshot earlier this year, revealing that he was in the top 0.41 per cent of all creators on the platform.

Whaite announced his OnlyFans departure with a post on Tuesday (16 September), writing: "I’m leaving OnlyFans.

'"Life has shifted in a way I couldn’t have predicted - Ruff Puff Bakehouse and Ruff Puff Brownies have taken up so much of my time, but in the best possible way.

"They’ve reminded me of a talent I’d neglected, and given me a new respect for the craft that first set me on this path all those years ago."

He spoke about 'creating something real' with his team, and that his value 'isn’t in muscles or body image', instead being more in baking and sharing.

"For the first time since Bake Off 13 years ago, I feel a true sense of purpose again," he claimed in the caption of a selfie with him and his pooch.

Thanking his OnlyFans peers, he hailed the start of a new chapter, signing off: "I’m not Jonny Boy, I’m just John, and I’m putting one foot in front of the other just like the rest of the world."
