Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer Starring Cillian Murphy Gets Teaser Trailer

Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer Starring Cillian Murphy Gets Teaser Trailer

The first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer movie has just dropped

The first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's upcoming film Oppenheimer starring Cillian Murphy just dropped.

Focusing on the man who became death and the destroyer of worlds with his role in the creation of the nuclear bomb - J Robert Oppenheimer - it marks the latest collaboration between Nolan and Murphy.

Set to release next year, Oppenheimer is already being touted as a must-see movie with a star-studded cast.

The teaser shows us a glimpse of Murphy's Oppenheimer and a countdown, possibly to the fateful moment the first atomic bomb is dropped and the world is ushered into the nuclear age off the back of Oppenheimer's work.

Murphy and Nolan have worked together on a number of films in the past, and the Peaky Blinders casting was announced late last year.

It looks like the actor has really put himself into the role, as back in May he was spotted looking much thinner and it appears as though he's gone through some weight loss to get into character.

Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy as the famous scientist.

The film will be based off the bestselling book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, which documents the scientist's life from his early work up to the cold war the nuclear bomb set the stage for.

Winning the Pulitzer prize for biography or autobiography in 2006, the book by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin is being adapted to screen by Nolan and is already being touted as a must-watch movie of next year.

Joining Murphy in the star-studded cast of Oppenheimer are Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon and Florence Pugh.

Based off an award-winning biography with such a big name director and so many renowned actors, all signs are pointing towards Oppenheimer being a big name in line for awards.

Oppenheimer will follow the research and creation of the nuclear bomb.

According to IndieWire, the budget for Oppenheimer will be around $100 million, a significant drop from his last movie Tenet which cost over $200 million to make.

Then again, Oppenheimer looks less action packed and more like a closer, personal look at one of history's most influential figures.

It will be expected to be a big hit at the box office, like many of Nolan's films which released in July such as previous entries The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception and Dunkirk.

Beyond that, the film is likely to be in line for plenty of award nominations if it lives up to the early hype.

Oppenheimer will be released in cinemas on 21 July, 2023.
