Conspiracy theorists are still convinced Elvis is in Home Alone

Conspiracy theorists are still convinced Elvis is in Home Alone

Some conspiracy theorists are still convinced Elvis is in Home Alone despite the singer dying 13 years before the film.

As we are only four days away from the big day, a lot of you have likely watched a decent number of Christmas films to get into the festive spirit.

One of the all time classic festive films is the Home Alone franchise, which is watched by millions of Brits every year.

The first Home Alone released in 1990, the second following in 1992, and the less well known third and fourth instalments releasing in 1997 and 2002.

But while there were many cameo appearances from famous people in the franchise, such as former US president Donald Trump bumping into Kevin (played by Macaulay Culkin) in a hotel in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, some fans believe another famous face also appeared.

Some conspiracy theorists are still convinced that Elvis Presley has a cameo in the first Home Alone, despite the singer dying 13 years before the film was released.

The scene in question where conspiracy theorists say that Elvis is spotted is an iconic one for Home Alone fans. You can take a look below:

It is when Kevin's mother, played by Catherine O'Hara, loses her temper with an airport employee after she discovers there are no imminent flights home to go see if her son is OK after being left behind.

In the scene, Kevin's mum swears she would sell her soul 'to the devil himself' in order to get home to her son.

But in the background of all the commotion is a silent bearded man waiting his turn in the queue - a man who does bear an uncanny resemblance to the late Elvis Presley.

Conspiracy theorists have been talking up the idea of this man being Elvis for many years, and with people sticking Home Alone on again in recent weeks, many have taken to social media to discuss their theories.

Some people still believe Elvis appeared in the original Home Alone.

One person on Twitter said: "Nothing anyone can say to me can ever convince me that this dude in the background of a shot in Home Alone isn't Elvis."

With a second agreeing: "There's only one conspiracy theory I believe in and it's that the actor who stood behind Kevin's mother in the Home Alone airport scene is Elvis Presley."

However, there was one Home Alone fan who was not convinced in the slightest. They jokingly said: "Yep, Elvis secretly faked his own passing and eventually snuck into the filming of Home Alone, with nobody ever noticing."

While the filmsmakers have never directly acknowledged the wild conspiracy theorist, Macaulay Culkin and director Chris Columbus did chuckle over the theory in the added director's commentary of Home Alone.
