EA has confirmed FIFA 23 will not feature any Russian national team or clubs.

The move was made in response to Moscow's decision to invade Ukraine and launch an all-out war with the eastern European country.

Russian teams were pulled from FIFA 22 shortly after the invasion kicked off in February earlier this year.

However, a decision has been made to ensure they don't end up there in the first place for the next instalment.

In a statement to EuroGamer, EA said: "EA Sports stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and like so many voices across the world of football, calls for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine.

"In line with our partners at FIFA and UEFA, EA Sports will not include the Russian national team or Russian clubs in FIFA 23."

EA has continually shown its solidarity with Ukraine for the past few months.

In addition to pulling the Russian national team and clubs from FIFA 22 and FIFA 23, the company has also stopped all sales of games and content in Russia and ally Belarus.

That includes virtual currency bundles.

The video game developer also stopped selling Russia items in Ultimate Team and removed Russian and Belarusian teams from their esports leagues.

EA released a statement saying it was 'shocked at the conflict that is unfolding in Ukraine'

"[We] join so many voices around the world in calling for peace and an end to the invasion. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine," the message said.

"Our primary concern is the ongoing safety of those in the region, particularly colleagues and partners.

"We are seeking to understand how we might best help them further beyond our programs that are already in place."

While Russia has been hit by numerous sanctions from international governments, they've also copped it heavily from major companies, who have decided to take a stand.

Microsoft, Netflix, Nintendo and PlayStation have suspended all sales within the country.
