Sir Elton John closed his 330-date farewell tour with an emotional message to fans, in which he revealed that he might put on a ‘one-off’ performance at some point in the future.
The 76-year-old has a career spanning five decades and has put on more than 4,000 live performances over the years - including a recent appearance at Glastonbury, which was branded the 'most iconic of all time' by one fan.
The legendary singer and pianist kicked off his Farewell Yellow Brick Road show all the way back in 2018 and it came to its end at Sweden's Tele2 Arena last night (8 July).
Sir Elton started last night’s show with 'Bennie and the Jets', and included a string of his most popular hits including 'Tiny Dancer', 'Rocket Man', 'Your Song' and 'Candle in the Wind'.

Speaking to the packed-out crowd, before performing his final track - 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' - he reflected: "I’ve had the most wonderful career, beyond belief. Fifty-two years of pure joy playing music, how lucky am I to play music?
“But I wouldn’t be sitting here if it wasn’t for you. You bought the singles, albums and CDs and, more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows and you know how I love to play live.
“It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys and you’ve been absolutely magnificent – thank you.
“I will never forget you guys. I’ve played so many concerts, how could I forget? You’re in my head, and my heart and my soul and I thank you so much.”

He also paid tribute to his band and crew, some of whom have worked with him for years.
Elton said: "They're really incredible and they are the best, I tell you, the best."
Although he confirmed that he would ‘never be touring again’ he did go on to reveal that he may do a ‘one-off thing’ at some point in the future, but said if he did it was ‘miles away’.
"I want to appreciate my family, my sons, my husband, everything. I've earned it," he said.

The night also included a surprise message from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin who told Elton: "From all the bands and artists you've helped and inspired, we love you so much.
"We are so grateful for everything you've done for the AIDS Foundation, anytime you've been kind to anybody.”
He added: “We love you so much, happy retirement and we’re going to miss you so much.”
