He was very much a creature of habit.

Elvis Presley was famously the king of rock and roll, and when we imagine his life, we most likely imagine him eating like a king too.

But it turns out that variety wasn't the spice of life for one of music's biggest stars, and Elvis allegedly once ate the same meal every day for six months straight.

The revelation was made by Elvis's former wife, Priscilla, now 77, to Graceland archivist Angie Marchese, who said that the King was a huge fan of Southern food.

"He definitely was a creature of habit, so if it was made in the South…he liked it," she explained.

She said that he 'grew up on good ol' Southern food', which included the likes of meatloaf, mashed potato, fried chicken and mac and cheese.

The archivist told The Express: "Anything but fish. He didn’t like the smell of fish being cooked in the house. There was never any fish in the house."

However, while Elvis loved southern food - and famously peanut butter and banana sandwiches - there was one meal that he favoured above all else: meatloaf and mashed potatoes.

She explained that Priscilla told her that he loved meatloaf and mashed potatoes so much that he ate the meal every day for six months straight.

This was very much a part of a bigger habit for Elvis, who Priscilla was married to for six years, and the archivist added that he would 'obsessively eat one kind of food over and over until he became bored of it.'

Other mealtime favourites of the King included bacon and mustard sandwiches and hamburger steak and crowder peas.

It turns out that he did have a sweet tooth too, and his all-time favourite dessert was his mother's chocolate cake.

Pricilla certainly would have remembered Elvis well - she later described him as the 'love of her life' despite their divorce - as they were together from when she was a teenager.

The pair met in the late 1950s at a party, when she was 14 and he was 24, although she insists that their relationship was 'innocent' at first.

She told Barbara Walters in 1985: "It was not easy on my parents. First of all, it was just an innocent meeting. And, of course, I was excited and I was reluctant because I didn't think they'd ever let me go. But it was just a one-time opportunity - that's all they thought it would be.

"I never expected him to ask me back. They never expected him to ask me back."
