A trailer has dropped for Fast X - the latest film in the long-running Fast and Furious saga - complete with a first look at Jason Momoa in action as a new villain. Watch it below:

Due to become the 10th film in the franchise (or 11th, if we're counting spin-off flick Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) Fast X sees Vin Diesel reprise his role as Dominic Torretto, whose crew must seek help in their fight against Cipher (Charlize Theron) when she recruits the mysterious Dante (Jason Momoa).

The ensemble cast also features the likes of Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, John Cena, Jason Momoa, Jordana Brewster, Brie Larson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, Helen Mirren, Cardi B and Rita Moreno.

"The end of the road begins," a synopsis says.

"Fast X, the tenth film in the Fast & Furious Saga, launches the final chapters of one of cinema’s most storied and popular global franchises, now in its third decade and still going strong with the same core cast and characters as when it began.

"Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path.

"Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything - and everyone - that Dom loves, forever."

It continues: "In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro.

"What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa), witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price."

Dante's plot will 'scatter Dom's family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica', with new allies forged as old enemies resurface.

However, everything changes when Dom discovers that his own eight-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry) is the 'ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance'.

Last year, Vin Diesel also took to Instagram to praise the cast that will be joining him to close out the Fast & Furious series.

He said: “It is very intense, although god has brought such incredible talent to assist me in completing this mythology, I can’t help but to reminisce… you all have been a part of this journey.”

The actor added: “There are angels coming to this mythology that will make you all smile.”

Fast X hits cinemas on 19 May.
