Fans Are Begging The Walking Dead To Stop After Fifth New Spin-Off Series Announced

As The Walking Dead comes to a close later this month, AMC has revealed a new six-episode anthology series titled Isle of the Dead is in the works.

While it might be music to some fans' ears, others have voiced their annoyance that the show just won't die.

The new series will star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who will reprise his role of Negan, and Lauren Cohan as Maggie Rhee.

They will travel through a post-apocalyptic Manhattan that is filled with walkers who have created their own world of anarchy, terror and chaos in New York City.

President of Entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC networks Dan McDermott said, “This is a very big day (March 7) for the expanding universe we are building around The Walking Dead.

“It not only adds another compelling series to this collection, it extends our storytelling around two unforgettable characters fans have grown to love, hate or hate and then love in Maggie and Negan, brilliantly inhabited by Lauren and Jeffrey.

"It also lets us explore a corner of this universe located on the island of Manhattan, with an iconic skyline that takes on a very different meaning when viewed through the lens of a zombie apocalypse.”

However, many fans didn’t take too kindly to the news, as there are already four spin-offs in The Walking Dead universe as well as the original series.

One Twitter user wrote: “I refuse to believe this. This is a blatant nasty cheesy money grab if it happens. I call BS. TV Negan gets comic Rick's ending."

Despite the lukewarm response, some fans were excited about the new show.

Journalist Trent Moore tweeted: “The next spinoff series for #TheWalkingDead looks to be the coolest yet. The undead saga is headed to New York City, with @LaurenCohan's Maggie and @JDMorgan's Negan teaming up for #IsleOfTheDead. What takes them to Manhattan? Can't wait to find out."

Isle of the Dead is set to premiere in 2023.
