Have you seen Spy In The Wild yet? It's no ordinary nature documentary. To get the best footage possible, the programme has created lifelike robots to infiltrate animals in the wild.

The 'spy' animals, which feature on the show on BBC1 at 8pm on Thursday nights, are incredibly lifelike and the only thing that gives them away is the camera in one of their eyes.

BBC Breakfast invited one of the robots on to a live broadcast and called the orangutan 'the strong silent type'.

The spy Orangutan is called Biruti, and it sat quietly in the studio, moving slightly, while the two hosts chated away - something a real orangutan wouldn't be able to do. The two presenters were mesmerised and couldn't stop looking at their unusual and well-behaved guest.

Charlie Stayt said: "It is quite extraordinary. Inside Biruti's eyes is a camera. So he can see and record everything around him. It gives a unique insight into the wildlife there."

The spy animals are placed within an animal community - a newly-hatched crocodile is put in the nest, the spy otter is put in the water and the wild dog (or is that wild puppy?) is placed in the pack.

They are there to observe the animals in the wild, but they also interact with the creatures. Mostly, the wild animals accept them, but some of them can tell that they're not exactly as they seem.

You get to see a wild orangutan using a saw to cut a branch of tree - something never seen before. Having opposable thumbs, the orangutans are quite adept at it and even competitive. Spy Orangutan joins her and they go at it in a saw-off!

And you can also watch Spy Sea Otter approaching other otters in the water - capturing the closest and most intimate views possible.
