Does The Latest Game Of Thrones Trailer Reveal That Bran Stark Is The Night King?

After what seems like an age of speculation, we finally have a date for the next (and final) season of Game of Thrones.

The world of Westeros will return to our screens on 15 April and we'll finally get to know how it all turns out a matter of weeks later.

In the meantime, however, there are a million and one fan theories doing the rounds. Everyone has got their own two cents worth to offer about what they think is going to happen.

One of the major theories out there is the idea that Bran Stark is, in fact, the Night King. That'll mean nothing to you if you've not watched the show, but then, what are you reading this for if you haven't seen the show?

Anyway, the theory goes: Bran Stark is the Three Eyed Raven - an ancient being capable of seeing both the future and the past.

He has visited the time when the White Walkers, the commanders of the army of the dead, were created by the Children of the Forest (told you this wouldn't be worthwhile for non-GoT fans).

He saw the creation of the Walkers and asked Leaf - one of the aforementioned Forest Children - why they made them and caused all of this mess in the first instance.

She replied: "We were at war. We were being slaughtered. Our sacred trees cut down. We needed to defend ourselves."

Bran replied: "From who?"

Leaf simply said: "From you".

With those two words, a whole narrative was born.

However, that has intensified with the latest trailer. Fans of the show have spotted that all of the remaining Stark children feature in the trailer - a creepy affair that takes place in the crypts underneath their home, Winterfell - with the notable exception of Bran Stark himself.

Or does he feature?

At the end, the icy mist and freezing cold that signifies the Night King and his army of dishevelled zombies begins to descend. Could it be that Bran is actually there, because he is the bloody Night King?

Obviously, we'll just have to wait and see.

Previously, the actor who plays Bran, Isaac Hempstead Wright, has scotched talk of this theory. In an interview with Vulture, he said: "I think it's less that they're the same person and more that they're two of the ancient beings of Westeros.

"The Three-Eyed Raven has been around for God knows how long, and White Walkers have been reported since the beginning of time.

"As we've seen, they were created by the Children of the Forest, so we can't get much more ancient than that. Perhaps we can think of it as these are two characters with a huge amount of power, but one is a Frankenstein's monster, who is driven by nothing but hatred and violence.

"Then there's Bran, who uses his powers for good."

That being said, stranger things have happened. The whole 'Jon Snow is a Targaryen' theory started as a fan theory, after all...
