Jackie Chan Says ‘Rush Hour 4’ Will Go Head If Chris Tucker Is Involved

Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan made an incredibly dynamic duo in the 1998 comedy action film Rush Hour. The film was so successful that they made a sequel three years later and a follow up in 2007. But audiences who love the series have been crying out for their beloved Lee and Carter to grace our screens again.

Ten years since they were last on screen together, we've been given a pretty strong hint that Rush Hour 4 could be on the cards sooner rather than later. Jackie Chan has spoken to Power 106's The Cruz Show about how difficult it has been to get the fourth instalment off the ground.

"For the last seven years, we've been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed," he said.

"The script probably at the end of this month will have a second draft and next year, [we'll] probably start.

"If... Chris Tucker agrees."

However, keep in mind that Chan, Tucker and the film's writer, Jeff Nathanson, director, Brett Ratner, and producer, Arthur Sarkissian, have been teasing us for years. Sarkissian said: "We waited six years to do Rush Hour 3 and if we wait another six years, Jackie is going to be way too tired to do this stuff. So, Chris is on board - he said he would love to do it.

"But we have to make sure it stands on its own. And it hinges on how successful Rush Hour 3 is, for the studio to say we want to make another one."

The third instalment to the series was a bit of a flop, bringing in nearly $100 million (£764,558) less than Rush Hour 2, as well as scoring 18 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. But that hasn't stopped people from pushing forward with another movie.

In 2009, Ratner hinted that Danny DeVito and Jet Li were being considered for additional roles for the fourth movie but nothing had been 'okayed yet'. In 2015 Tucker met with Chan, where they reportedly talked about the project, then followed it up in an interview with Collider the following year, saying: "We're trying to get it going. I think we might be able to get one going. I love working with Jackie and I think we could do a really fun one."

But Chan's latest admission that a draft script had finally been agreed is the most concrete step yet towards another movie.
