There's already been controversy over Christmas songs this year, and now Miley Cyrus teamed up with Jimmy Fallon and Mark Ronson to give 'Santa Baby' a 2018 update with a feminist twist.

On Thursday on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Miley Pointed out how the 1953 Eartha Kitt song is pretty raunchy and dated in the lyrics department, she says: "I think I might need to change some of these lyrics. Am I saying I'm going to hook up with Santa if he buys me all this stuff?"

In her rendition of the classic Miley brings up the issues brought to light in the #MeToo era - making a point of things like equal pay, sexual harassment and even the point in the song where it says 'slip a sable under the tree for me' which references a fur and Miley claims she's a vegan.

The hilarity of the skit comes in when Jimmy doesn't seem to have understood Miley's intention to change the lyrics and comes in with a necklace for her and she sings: "Santa baby, I don't need any fancy jewellery, not me."

Mark Ronson joins Jimmy holding keys to a new car for the former Hannah Montana star, but she sings: "Santa baby, I've got a baller car of my own, no loans. I bought it all by myself, Santa baby, with zero help from Elf on the Shelf."

Her lyrics get stronger as she sings: "I'd love to know my ass won't get grabbed at work, by some ignorant jerk," and also demanded than guys don't send her any dick pics.

Mark and Jimmy's fumbling and struggle to find a place in the scene add a certain humour while Miley stays strong throughout, thoroughly demonstrating she doesn't need a man to get her anything.

Miley has been a strong advocate of the #MeToo movement when she broke her 'no red carpets' rule to support to movement at the Grammy's earlier this year.

It doesn't look like Miley's remake of the classic will be making it into the charts for Christmas number one, but it sends out a strong message of equality.
