Rick and Morty fans must be some of the patient people in the world, having to wait months and months between new seasons. The latest update is that season four is set to land in November, almost two whole years after the last one finished in October 2017.

However, there's good news, with co-creator Justin Roiland saying there won't be 'long breaks' between seasons now that Adult Swim has ordered a whopping 70 episodes.

Speaking to Polygon, Roiland said: "We're super excited that, for the first time ever, we're locked in, we know what the future is, we have job security.

"[Dan] Harmon [Roiland, Harmon's co-creator] is in great spirits, we have a great writer's room. We want the episodes to stay good, but we do also want to try to turn them around a little quicker now that we have this big order, I think it gives us the ability to be faster.

"We're not going to do these long breaks, these chasms in between seasons anymore. We're going to schedule vacation time and just keep the machine going. It's going to be really cool."

Amazing news.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harmon echoed those views, even hinting that there's potential for the breaks to be ditched altogether.

Harmon said: "I think it's safe to say without fear of being wrong that the gap between seasons three and four will be the longest and last time that it's ever so long that it's ridiculous.

New seasons will be released a lot nearer together.

"I don't know how fast we can do it, but I know it will never be this long again. There were so many things that had to be settled before we even started season four, and it's really safe to say - as Justin says - we're literally writing season five while finishing season four, just to force ourselves to commit to a certain schedule.

"Not to get anyone's hopes up, but it is structured into our deal that if we're going strong and fast there are options to deliver more episodes at a time. Adult Swim can say, 'These are on time and great. Do you want to do more instead of taking a break?' And we can then do more. I'd like to see that day.

"Just knowing it's possible makes me eager for it. I feel like a naughty boy when I'm late."

The fourth season hits Adult Swim in November and is tipped to be aired on Channel 4 shortly after. For now, all the previous episodes are available on All4. Enjoy.
