'The End of the F**king World' Director Hints At Second Season

If you haven't watched The End Of The F**king World yet, you're missing out. The first series of the comic-book-based teen drama stunned viewers when it debuted on Channel 4 last October before it landed on Netflix in January.

Of course, when a show's that good and only eight episodes long, fans will be begging for more.

Now, the show's director and executive producer Jonathan Entwistle has obliged, teasing fans that a second season may not be too far away.

An Instagram story recently posted by Entwhistle features a shot of The End Of The F**king World star Jessica Barden with the frankly frustrating caption 'Is this season 2??'

Given the show's enormous popularity, it's probably safe to assume that it is part of an upcoming second series - unless Entwhistle's just hanging out with Barden for the hell of it.

The End Of The F**king World has had eight 20-minute episodes so far, based on the comic books of the same name (except for the asterisks, that is) written by Charles Forsman.

The show tells the story of James, a teenager who's 'pretty sure [he's] a psychopath', and his rebellious classmate Alyssa (Barden) as they set out on a road trip together and form an unlikely relationship.

Don't just take our word for how good the show is - it even had the rare accolade of receiving a 100% rating on movie review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, before some grumpy numpty went and ruined it.

As promising as a second series would be, there's always a sticking block when it comes to sequels of books - the writers have no more source material to work with. You don't need to see a duff Bond film to know how badly that can go.

When asked about the prospect of a second series of the show, the actor who plays James, Alex Lawther, chose to look at the problem more positively. Well, he would, wouldn't he?

"Well, we don't know. It was based on a comic book series by Charles Forsman and the comics end where our episodes end," Crowther told JÓN Magazine, according to NME.

"It would give [writer Charlie Covell] a chance to explore something from her imagination. I would be very excited about [that] because I think she's brilliant. So, we'll see, basically."

Either way, the first series of The End Of The F**king World only took six months to shoot and edit so if the show is set to come back, at least we won't have to wait for long. Hopefully Entwhistle's Barden shot shows that work on Season 2 is well underway already.
