Many fans of the US version of The Office are keen for a reboot, but if this Saturday Night Live segment is anything to go by, it's not just viewers who are keen for a reunion.

Steve Carell launched into a monologue on the show last night, but ended up answering a bunch of questions from three of his former The Office co-stars about a possible reunion.

An 'audience member' watching the monologue asked: "My question is, will you ever reboot The Office?"

To which Carell replied: "I don't think so. It was a great experience. I love all those people, but I just don't think it's the best idea. I think maybe we should just leave it alone."

A man who is all too familiar with calls for a reunion or reboot, Kenan Thompson, then popped up to add: "I just wanted to say that I also think that you should reboot The Office."

Prompting Carell to respond: "It would be like someone wanted you to reboot Kenan & Kel." WE DO, CARELL. WE DO.

"That would be an honour," Thompson told him.

Next up, Ellie Kemper (who played Erin Hannon in the show) stepped up to say: "Hi Steve. People would really love to see an Office reboot. Especially me. Because I need that money. Let's get that money, Steve."

Adding that he was a 'jerk', when he shut her down. Seems fair enough.

Ed Helms (better known as Andy Bernard) joined in, telling Carell: "I just don't think you understand how much money we're talking about.

"Like you wouldn't have to do all those sad movies anymore."

But Carell was undeterred, telling Helms that he doesn't do his 'serious' movies for the cash, but because he enjoys them.

Offering a compromise of sorts, he said: "Why don't we just have a party instead? We could all catch up, get together, no cameras, just friends."

Brutally, Helms replied: "We already do that. We just don't invite you."

But it was Jenna Fischer (who starred as Pam) who stole the show, telling Carell: "Steve, do you remember the last words that Pam secretly whispered to Michael as she left for Denver? She said, 'Steve, don't be a dick, do the reboot."
