The Official Runtime For Avengers: Endgame Has Been Confirmed

The Official Runtime For Avengers: Endgame Has Been Confirmed

There are just a few weeks to go until the fourth instalment of the Avengers series, Avengers: Endgame, hits cinemas and though not much is expected to be revealed until it does, one thing we do know is that it will be a hefty three hours and two minutes long.

The exciting news was revealed on AMC's webiste and tweeted out by MCUComics.com founder Jeremy Conrad, today.

The tweet said: "AMC has update their website with the official synopsis for #AvengersEndgame and lists the runtime as 3 hours, 2 minutes."

But despite the length, the film's directors, the Russo Brothers, are pretty confident audiences will be on the edge of their seat for the entire 182 minutes.

Last month they revealed they had tested the movie four times already and not a single person got up for a bathroom break throughout.

Speaking to Collider about the screenings, Joe Russo said: "We're still at the three-hour mark. I think the studio is down with what the best story is.

"Right now, we think the movie is playing well and we've had great responses from our test audiences and we're feeling very good about where it is. We're still doing work to it. We're not done with it."

He went on to say the length was down to the quality film and the characters emotions.

Joe added: "When you have to tell a really complicated story and you want strong emotional moments with the characters, it just requires a certain amount of real estate. This one, in particular, feels like three hours' worth of real estate."

Avengers: Endgame Named Best Movie Release Of 2019 At Golden Tomato Awards

This isn't the only good news to come out of the Marvel camp in recent weeks. Earlier this month it was announced that the long-awaited merger between entertainment giants Disney and Fox was finally a done deal.

The agreement means that some of the world's best-loved superheroes can now cross-over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, whereas before they couldn't.

How so? Well, basically, the characters who formed the MCU (the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy et al) were licensed by Disney, whereas the X-Men and Deadpool were licensed by Fox.

So while comic book readers might have been used to Spider-Man teaming up with Wolverine on the page, there was sadly no chance of that happening on the big screen.

Good news: that's where the merger comes in. This $71.3 billion deal finally brings Fox-licensed characters like the X-Men, Deadpool and even the Fantastic Four into the same deal as the characters featured in the MCU - meaning the odds on future spin-offs and cross-overs are pretty good.

Basically it's a pretty exciting time to be a Marvel fan.
