Beetlejuice is one of the most iconic movies of the 80s, and its sequel — Beetlejuice Beetlejuice — is finally upon us, almost 40 years later.

But, along with new cast members like everyone’s favourite spooky queen Jenna Ortega, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice brings with it a brand new star — Bob The Shrinker. And he’s been touring Australia.

Now, if you’re not familiar or haven’t seen the original Beetlejuice, don’t worry. You do not need to have seen the original to fall in love with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Here’s the deal with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Three generations of the Deetz family reunite in their ancestral home, Winter River, after an unexpected family tragedy. Winona Ryder reprises her role as Lydia, and she’s still grappling with the lingering spectre that is Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton).

However, Lydia’s teenage daughter Astrid, played by Jenna Ortega (genius casting), accidentally opens up a portal to the underworld and it turns their whole lives upside down. Of course, with chaos bubbling in both realms, it’s only a matter of time before someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times. And when he’s summoned, our bio-exorcist expert is ready to create chaos, raise a ruckus, and otherwise be his ghoulish and ghastly self.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is, like the original, directed by Tim Burton, so you can expect all the whimsical, gothic goodness that comes with any of his films (Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride) or TV shows (Wednesday). Not only that, but the film’s bringing back the OG cast members, like Catherine O’Hara and the master of mayhem himself Michael Keaton.

But this time’s different. Beetlejuice isn’t alone, he’s brought his mute, skittish and long-suffering staffer, Bob The Shrinker, with him. We don’t know a lot about Bob just yet, but we know his lips are literally sewn shut, his eyes are virtually popping out of his very tiny head and he is terrified of his stripey-suited boss.

To celebrate the film’s release in cinemas on September 5, Beetlejuice is letting Bob The Shrinker loose in Australia. He even stopped by the LADbible Australia office and things… didn’t quite go to plan.

To truly understand what makes Bob so…Bob, and to learn what happens to the Deetz family upon Beetlejuice’s return, you’ll have to check out Beetlejuice Beetlejuice when its unleashed into cinemas on September 5.

Be quick though, or Beetlejuice will slip back into the underworld once more.

Get your inner child ready to head back to Winter River, because everyone’s fave bio-exorcist is back. ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ hits cinemas on September 5.
