New Deadpool and Wolverine trailer reveals return of X-23 from Logan

A new Deadpool and Wolverine trailer has revealed the return of Dafne Keen's X-23, who last appeared in Logan.

The final trailer for the film, out next week, has dropped the absolute bombshell.

Check out the trailer here:

The character, introduced for the first time in film in Logan is Wolverine’s spiritual daughter.

X-23, also known as Laura Kinney, was cloned from his DNA as part of the weapon-X programme which created both Wolverine and Deadpool.

Dafne Keen, who played the role of X-23 in Logan when she was just 11, returns at 19 to play the role once more in Deadpool and Wolverine.

She had regularly rejected the idea she would be returning in interviews, however revealed to Entertainment Weekly, released alongside the trailer, that she would be coming back.

Keen said she took inspiration from Andrew Garfield's attempts to throw off the scent that he would be appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

She said: "I had a great time keeping it secret. I had to do a bunch of press for a job that I just finished."

Keen has just come off the back of a long press tour for Star Wars' The Acolyte, where she played the Jedi Jecki.

The actor went on to say: "I got asked in every interview, and I just got to lie, which was really funny.

"All the inspo comes from Andrew Garfield, he's the master at this."

As expected, Marvel nerds are freaking out (don't worry, I'm one of them).

One fan posted on X to say: "WE ACTUALLY WONNNN."

Another said: "She's back! X-23 is coming!"

A third replied to say: "WE ARE SO BACK."

Some fans, however, were less pleased that this detail was revealed.

One X user penned: "We just showing everything in the trailer now? Why would they show this instead of leaving it a big surprise.

"What are we doing here?"

A second concurred, adding: "Can studios stop with spoiling characters in the trailers now? It comes out next week."

While the film is out 25 July, there are still several cameos and roles expected to have been hidden.

Though they haven't appeared in any of the trailers so far, it has been confirmed that Jennifer Garner as Elektra and Patrick Stewart as Professor X will both be returning to their respective roles.

Whether it was revealed in the movie itself or in a trailer I think we can all agree, bringing anyone back from Logan is a good thing, and giving Keen another crack at the role is a brilliant move.
