Andrew Garfield spoke about the time that he and co-star Florence Pugh seemingly 'didn't hear cut' during a steamy scene for their newly released movie, We Live In Time.

Having premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 6 September, 2024, it was then released in the US on 11 October 2024 before its UK and Europe release.

The film follows couple Tobias and Almut, played by Garfield and Pugh, as the two fall in love after a chance encounter.

The film is finally available to watch in the UK, with cinemas up and down the country showing the John Crowley-directed title as of today (1 January).

However, one scene got more attention that the others while the pair were carrying out the press tour for the movie.

Speaking to Josh Horowitz at 92nd Street Y in New York, Garfield explained what happened when he and Pugh didn't hear the cameraman shouting 'cut' during one particularly passionate sex scene.

"We were doing the first take of this very intimate, passionate scene and it's a closed set which means it's only me and Florence and the camera operator who's a lovely man called Stuart," said Garfield. "And he's very polite and very sweet and gentle. The director's in another room next door."

He continued: "And so the scene becomes passionate and we get into it as it were and we go a little bit further than we were meant to... it's feeling safe and we just kind of... go from the next thing to the next thing and we'll let this progress and we'll just carry on."

Garfield explained that at one point, he looked up and saw that Stuart had the camera by his side and was stood in the corner of the room facing the wall, seemingly waiting for them to stop.

And people on social media were quick to offer a response to his comments, as one fan said: "How in character does one have to be for this to happen?"

Another said: "That's so awkward, but kudos to the cameraman for being considerate!"

And a third added: "That sounds like a hilarious yet awkward moment on set! Andrew and Florence must have been so into the scene that they totally lost track of everything around them."

Garfield and Pugh have recently spoken about their experience of filming We Live In Time, with Pugh explaining it was only the second time she had used her natural English accent in the movie, while the Tick Tick... Boom! star admitted it was the first time he had ever used his.

"This is my second movie doing my own voice, but it has been a long time," the Midsommar star said.

Meanwhile, Garfield added: "I think it's the first time, maybe, I'm using my — yeah, yeah, that's true."

The movie is now available to watch in cinemas across the UK.
