Incredibles 3 has been announced by Pixar, with a sequel to the iconic pair of films confirmed to be on the way.

The news came at this year's D23 expo in California, where Disney's entertainment slate for the next two years is being announced.

The fact that a third film on the way was not a huge surprise when looking at the success of the first two.

The Incredibles is an iconic film that had fans begging for a sequel for years, whilst Incredibles 2 grossed well over a billion dollars when it was eventually released.

Brad Bird, who directed the first pair of films, was confirmed to be developing the third.

As yet, no plot details have been announced for the sequel.

It's likely we can expect to see the return of Craig T Nelson as Mr Incredible and Holly Hunter as Elastigirl.

One fan on Twitter said: "YESSS MY FAMILY IS BACK."

Another said: "I USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THESE," while a third fan said: "OH MY GOD WE ARE SO BACK."

Some, however, were unsure of the concept of bringing the super family back.

One fan posted on Twitter to say: "wtf hopefully it's as good as the first one not the second."

While Incredibles 2 made a huge amount at the box office, it was not as universally well received as the first film.
