There has finally been a bit of an update on the new James Bond film.
And while it’s still not the reveal of who will actually be playing 007 himself, it’s the reveal of who will be writing it.
The creator of Peaky Blinders has been given the honour – the one and only Steven Knight.
As well as co-creating Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (bet you didn’t know that), he’s also got the likes of SAS Rogue Heroes, A Thousand Blows, Locke and This Town in the list of his credits.

The award-winning screenwriter, producer and director has been hired to write the script following the hiring of Denis Villeneuve as the director of the 26th James Bond flick last month and he ‘can’t wait.’

Highly anticipated with no lead actor yet confirmed, the film is currently in development and being overseen by Amazon MGM Studios after the long-serving ‘masterminds’ Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson stood down in February.
Fans weren’t so thrilled with that, but it has been assured that Bond will remain a big screen release rather than going straight to streaming on Prime Video.
For Knight, it’s a dream job to get the call for as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast: “It has always been on my bucket list and it's fantastic to be invited to do it - I can't wait to get started.

"I'm hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it will be imbued into me and I will be able to produce something that's the same but different, and better, stronger and bolder.”
Although, while the rumour mill keeps spinning over who will take on the role of 007, Knight wasn’t going to give anything away.
“That is a very, very good question, and one I can't give you the answer to,” he said when asked about Mr Bond.

The Peaky Blinders creator didn’t even give away whether that’s because he’s not allowed to reveal the actor, or because he doesn’t know or because they’ve not actually been chosen yet.

Variety reports the new film could be released in 2028 with anytime sooner impossible to pull off due to movie’s scale.
While we sit and wait, fans can’t help but come up with ideas for the new 007, with actors favourited including the likes of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson and Henry Cavill.
Well, now all I’m thinking about is some kind of Peaky Blinders and James Bond cross over to be honest.
