An industry expert has predicted who they think will be named as the new James Bond in 2025.

The Hollywood Reporter’s critics wrote up their predictions for 2025, and among these were who they think the next 007 is set to be.

Before you wonder, no, we’re not making a whole article just to tell you again that people reckon it might be Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Seth Abramovitch, a senior writer at The Hollywood Reporter, wrote a section titled ‘The Next James Bond Will Be…’.

Abramovitch did not go for any of the betting favourites, with Ladbrokes currently offering odds on Aaron Taylor Johnson as the clear favourite, and Paul Mescal, Theo James, and Jack Lowden as the other frontrunners.

Instead, the industry expert went for Josh O’Connor.

O’Connor has had an absolutely stellar year, starring in Challengers, La Chimera, and Lee.

Add this to his extended stint on The Crown and reported role in the next Spielberg film, and he is undoubtedly a star on the rise.

Abramovitch said in the article: “Bond series producer Barbara Broccoli has always led from the gut, not caved to popular opinion.

“Lest we forget, the fair-haired Craig was considered a highly controversial choice when he was first announced in 2005.

“2025 will thus be the year we finally learn the identity of the new James Bond, and it will not be Taylor-Johnson.

“It will be an English actor poised on the cusp of superstardom — familiar to audiences but not too familiar, with a seductive smile, ease with a tossed-off one-liner and charisma to spare.

“The next James Bond will be Josh O’Connor”.

The news has already caused a huge amount of debate on Twitter, with some loving it, and others less than convinced.

One tweet responded to the news saying: “josh o'connor would be a good bond because I would never in a million years have predicted him as a choice but once you put it in my head I'm like, oh yeah! I bet he'd have a cool take.”

O'Connor received a great amount of praise for Challengers alongside co-stars Mike Faist and Zendaya (Amazon MGM Studios)

Another fan went another direction and said: “selfishly don’t want Josh O’Connor to be the new bond , if only bc I really admire his work as an actor and would like him to be available for more interesting work !

“Like yeah it’s a big career move but look at what happened to Daniel Craig ! No one deserves Bond jail.”

A third tweeted: “If Josh O'Connor is to become the next James Bond that would be incredible and I'd be so excited for this and for him!!”

As it stands, no one has yet been confirmed for the role.
