Obsession writer-director Curry Barker has admitted that his hit horror flick has a ‘plot hole’, that ‘really doesn’t make sense’ when you think about it.
The movie centres on Bear (played by Michael Johnston) who has a crush on his childhood pal Nikki (played by Inde Navarrette) but is too shy to make a move.
So, he buys a supernatural toy called the One Wish Willow, that grants the owner one wish, which Bear uses to make Nikki fall in love with him.
Now, if this were a romantic fantasy movie, that premise could be sickly sweet, but Obsession is a horror movie and - without giving too many spoilers away - things start to go very bad, very quickly for Bear.

Obsession has been a Box Office smash pulling in over $79million (£58.5m) worldwide, and has earned itself an impressive 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

However, filmmaker Barker says the hit horror movie does have a plot hole that all centres on the One Wish Willow, and that the wish-granting toy doesn’t make a lot of sense when you think about it for too long.
“I mean, it’s kind of a plot hole. It’s something I don’t like to think about too much, because it totally doesn’t make sense that there’s a world of people just making wishes,” he told Total Film.
“It really doesn’t make any sense at all. If the One Wish Willow actually works, which it does in this lore, and people are just making wishes left and right, there would be some crazy — like, dragons would exist.”
And, although there are plenty of scares in Obsession, there aren’t any dragons.
In fact, Baker pointed out that from what we see of the world it’s ‘pretty normal’, which probably wouldn’t be the case if anyone could get their hands on a magical wish making item.

Barker did also have a solution for the plot hole, explaining that he thinks when someone makes a wish, it takes them to an alternative reality where only their wish comes true, meaning they wouldn’t be experiencing everyone else’s wishes alongside their own.
Makes sense, right?
And it seems the filmmaker is keen to explore some more of those wishes, with him saying he would be open to a sequel or an anthology series of one hour episodes, which is sure to be high on the wish list of any horror fans out there.
