Oscar attendees called 'entitled' after picture of theatre after ceremony shared

The Dolby Theatre was left in quite the dire state

Don't let the glamorous gowns, sharp suits and bright lights fool you - as the stars attending the Oscars have been accused of leaving a right mess in their wake.

Hollywood's elite apparently didn't get the memo about cleaning up after themselves, as the Dolby Theatre was left in quite a dire state after the awards ceremony on Sunday (15 March).

A shocking snap which has gone viral shows the chaotic aftermath of cramming hundreds of actors, directors and other figures from the film industry into the Los Angeles auditorium.

Words such as 'entitled', 'snobby hypocrites' and 'disgusting' have been thrown around by social media users who reckon that attendees should have left the place exactly as they found it - tidy.

Although the Oscars might have appeared to be the epitome of glitz and glam for people watching from home, the snap of the mess left behind really goes to show that all that glitters is not gold.

Matt Neglia, the editor-in-chief at Next Best Picture, was among those in attendance on Sunday - and while all the stars rushed out of the Dolby Theatre to get to the after-party, he hung about a bit longer.

When the lights came on, he came to the realisation that a lot of people who bagged a seat at the awards show are serious litterbugs.

In the snap which he shared to X, bottles, wrappers and what appeared to be remnants of the snack boxes that were provided for guests were seen discarded all over the floor and on seats.

Neglia comically captioned the post: "Clean up on aisle ALL #Oscars."

Since he shared the image in the early hours of Monday (16 March) morning, it has been viewed more than 5.4million times.

And the general consensus among all of those people who have laid their eyes on the shambles that the Dolby Theatre was left in is that Hollywood stars are seemingly all fur coat and no knickers.

Responding to Neglia's post, one social media user fumed: "Rich people leaving their dirt for poor people as always."

Another wrote: "Who else remembers when celebs had class?"

A third added: "So people actually litter the whole place at the Oscars? These celebrities lack proper home training."

A fourth sarcastically chimed in saying: "Celebrities and actors/actresses feeling too entitled to put their trash away. Colour me shocked."

While a fifth commented: "'Let's use no plastic. Keep our oceans clean. Help the climate....bla bla bla'. But see where they sat for few hours. Goes to show you how performative most of these speeches are."

Others pointed out that the picture appeared to have been taken from one of the upper balconies in the Dolby Theatre, suggesting that megastars wouldn't have been sat there and therefore aren't to blame.

One said: "This isn’t where the celebrities and stars sit correct? This is the family, general audiences, general academy member seating area, correct?"

A second added: "Not defending this by any means but isn’t this a photo of one of the upper tiers where family, friends and invited guests sit? Not the actual nominees?"

Meanwhile, another person suggested that whoever was sat there might have been instructed to leave their waste there.

"Lots of places ask you to leave your rubbish at your seat, so that a team can come along and clean it," another person said. "None of this looks bad. It's not an entire box of popcorn spilled on the floor or rotisserie chickens.

"It's boxes and bottles belonging to individuals, on individual seats."
