Super Mario Has Become An Advocate For The Free The Nipple Campaign

Super Mario has come a long way since being a 2D plumber in the Mushroom Kingdom and trying to save the Princess with his brother, Luigi.

From the NES to the GameBoy, the SNES to the N64, the GameCube to the WII, and finally the Nintendo Switch, the Italian has starred in 21 games.

You'd think that we'd know everything there is to know about him, or that we had seen all there is to see. But, no. Nintendo has debuted something we have not seen before... Mario's nipples.

Screenshots from Super Mario Odyssey for Nintendo Switch have been shared and the images show the plumber ditching his trademark dungarees, having fun on the beach and letting his nips feel the breeze.

Mario, seemingly an advocate for the Free the Nipple campaign, said (at least in our own minds): "La libertà è mia, fisserò i bagni mentre i miei capezzoli sono in mostra."

Luigi added no further comment, but was seen looking fairly jealous of his brother's tan.

As it goes, Mario seems comfortable with his body, not playing into the hands of the numerous body shamers that prowl around on social media looking for insecurities to feed on. On the contrary, he's happy to be pictured with his top off playing Frisbee with his dog.

The revelation that the beloved character has freed his nips for the first time since 1985 forced a mixed reaction from fans.

Some saw it as nothing more than a memeable joke, while others saw it as something not too dissimilar from "The Fappening" and celebrity leaks we've seen over the past couple of years.

It was revealed along with the screenshots which show that the new game features the ability to grab your own shots and share them.

Game producer Yoshiaki Koizumi said: "For many, Mario games are all about making memories, so capture away."

Mark Serrels tweeted: "Great, now I know what Mario's nipples look like."

Whereas another gamer added: "I can't stop laughing at Mario's nipples.

"He's such a hirsute man, with that bushy moustache, so you'd think he would at least have a hairy chest as well. I wonder what bit of him we'll see next."

We should all respect Mario. He's opened a new door for game characters everywhere.
