First GTA VI trailer shows the game franchise's first-ever female lead character

First GTA VI trailer shows the game franchise's first-ever female lead character

Fans are raving about getting to play as Lucia.

Rockstar has delivered Christmas a little early this year after dropping the trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI.

It was meant to premiere on December 5 at 9am EST, however a copy of the teaser leaked on social media the day before.

While the video was quickly taken down, more kept popping up.

Rockstar eventually conceded and decided to just drop the official trailer rather than wait around.

"Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube," the company wrote.

Many felt bad for Rockstar considering this is the first trailer of a game that has been a decade in the making.

However, they were also thrilled to see the first look at what gamers will see when it officially gets released in 2025 (yes, sadly we have to wait that long).

While we didn't get a look at the gameplay, the graphics look out of this world.

It's set in a place very reminiscent of Vice City and we get to see a woman called Lucia.

She is the first-ever female lead character in Grand Theft Auto's history and it looks like she's in a bit of bother.

The first scene she appears in is in a prison and the final scene is her robbing a convenience store with the male lead character.

Fans are already stoked to be able to play as a woman for the first time.

"If I were to buy GTA VI when it comes out you bet I’ll be playing as Lucia," wrote one fan.

"I’ve been asking for a female playable character in a GTA game for many years. It’s finally happening."

Another added: "I hope that after all these years that we have waited for GTA VI, the details and realism of the characters will be at this level."

A third said: "Let's go! She looks dope!"

As the trailer indicated, the game won't be dropping until 2025, so don't hold your breath.

There are 393 days until 1 January, 2025, and there's no indication it will come out that early.
