A GTA 6 'insider' has reportedly revealed part of the 2025 release plan for the Rockstar video game as the big day closes in.

The comments were made in relation to a thread on Reddit discussing the harm that leaks do to the gaming industry in a discussion about the upcoming remakes and remasters of the iconic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4.

Posting the remarks in the r/GTA6 subreddit, with the username subtracted to protect their identity, one fan looking forward to the release of GTA 6 in the autumn highlighted one particular explainer posted in the thread about leaks.

And all the signs in the post point to the poster having worked for Rockstar on GTA 6, with a directly reference to the leaking of the GTA 6 first trailer that was leaked a day before its release in December 2023.

The post from the so-called Rockstar dev said: "[Leaks] don't discourage devs, but it can be an absolute mood killer to work on something for years and have the reveal / announcement pulled from under your feet by a leaker looking for some internet fame / clout."

They added: "I'm at a studio working on what will be 2025's biggest release [hinting at GTA 6], and we had celebration plans for releasing our reveal trailer which were completely thwarted when the trailer leaked the night before.

"We all found out our game was revealed overnight via Twitter / Reddit and group chats. It was a strange atmosphere in the studio the next day - excited to finally reveal our game while simultaneously gutted over how it went down.

"And management were not happy on what should have been a monumental day for the studio."

Putting these comments into the GTA 6 subreddit, one fan said it was more confirmation of a 2025 release.

"They don't outright say what the game is, or what company they work for, but if we use context clues... this sounds about right," they said on the social media platform.

"User's claim to be a game dev also isn't a one-off mention according to their comment history, as they've mentioned their job in multiple communities as months have gone on. So, I doubt their comment was a lie.

"In the chance that it is true, it sounds like the current dev timeline is still a 2025 release as of now. Take it with a huge grain of salt regardless."

It comes as hopes are growing around a second trailer for GTA 6, after one recent announcement from Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive.

Alongside GTA 6, Take-Two is set to release Borderlands 4 in September with a trailer released for the game just last week.

With it being roughly seven months before the game release, fans are hoping the same could happen for GTA 6, which is expected to land in October or November after Take-Two confirmed they wouldn't put two of their games on the open market to compete against each other.
