A new version of the PS5 has been announced, and an incredibly limited number are set to be sold.

The announcement was made as part of Playstation's 30th anniversary, with the console being a major throwback.

This comes just over a week after it was announced that they would be selling a PS5 Pro with a massive price tag.

The Pro will be sold for £699.99 in the UK, as well as being sold for $699.99 in the US, and in Europe for €799.99.

This comes with a 2 terabyte SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and a copy of Astro’s Playroom.

Fans were shocked at the price of this, however Playstation have remained tight lipped at the price of their new edition of the console.

The new version is a throwback version of the Pro, with the company calling them a "PlayStation 5 Pro Console – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition".

This comes in both a digital and regular pro.

The design is reminiscent of the Playstation 1, with the regular white, blue, and black colour scheme of the new PS5 being replaced with a retro grey and multicoloured look.

There will only be 12,300 sold worldwide, which is sure to put a massive crunch on demand.

The video above was released on YouTube alongside the announcement, explaining the features and design of the new model.

One comment read: "Scalpers rubbing theirs hands like birdman."

This is not even the most negative of the comments, however, with one saying: "Releasing the 30th anniversary edition without a disk drive is so pathetic. The disk drive in 1995 was one of the main reasons for PS1 to get popular. The fact that games were on discs, the newest and coolest format at that time, was game changing."

Another said: "I can't believe, they're showing us two PS5 consoles without a disc drive for the anniversary."

One comment said: "So you’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of the iconic industry changing, disc based console with digital only editions?"

Not everyone hated the concept though, with some praising the design.

One comment read: "That controller made me feel things," as another sat right down the middle, saying: "It looks beautiful, but without a disc drive it's completely useless."

As well as the discless drive, the console pack comes with multiple add-ons.

Within this, there is included an: "Original PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing, four PlayStation Shapes cable ties, a PlayStation sticker, a Limited Edition PlayStation Poster (1 of 30 possible designs), and most importantly - a PlayStation Paperclip.
