Guy leaves people mindblown after saying you won’t know his face but will ‘100% recognise his voice’

If you play graphic games, you'll know who Richard Wells is after hearing his voice

A bloke on TikTok has left people seriously baffled after revealing you won't know his face, but you'll definitely know his voice.

Meet Richard Wells, a man who has been a voice actor for over 40 years and has participated in more than 10,000 recordings.

Even though he has spoken more words than we can count, Wells took to TikTok to share that he’s the face of a well-known two-word audio clip in many games.

Can you guess it?

Wells confirmed that he is the man who announces PEGI 18 before fames begin, usually at the start after brand logos fade in and out of the screen.

Or, it could be during trailers.

PEGI, also known as Pan European Gaming Information, sets the standard of labels for video games which shows parents and players what to expect from their experience and also which age range it’s suitable for.

For example, if you were to play a PEGI 3, there’s isn’t anything included within the gameplay which could be considered offensive or dangerous and it’s suitable for all ages to enjoy.

However, PEGI 18 and onwards is where it gets gnarly.

According to PEGI, this label is for explicit material and should only be played by players who are 18 years of age or older.

It said: “The adult classification is applied when the level of violence reaches a stage where it becomes a depiction of gross violence, apparently motiveless killing, or violence towards defenceless characters. The glamorisation of the use of illegal drugs and of the simulation of gambling, and explicit sexual activity should also fall into this age category.”

There are also additional labels added to the age categories such as:

· Drugs

· Discrimination

· Sex

· Gambling

· Fear

· Bad Language

· Violence

These essentially warns players from approaching a game which could offend or upset them beforehand.

Now, video gamers get to see the face of the man who has been warning them about explicit content for years.

Some better-known games which have a PEGI 18 label include: Cyberpunk 2077, GTA (basically all of them), The Last of Us, God of War, Metal Gear Solid and Mad Max.

Gamers were delighted with Richard's unveiling.

However, many people recall playing 18+ games way before we reached the appropriate age and I’m still traumatised today.

Imagine playing Hellblade at 13? Absolutely not.

Some viewers were ecstatic after hearing Wells’ voice, admitting that it took them back in time to when they played their favourite games.

One person on TikTok wrote: “Bro everytime he says 'pegi 18' he gives me flashback to so many trailers.”

Another commented: “Thank you for your contribution to the history of videogames Mr Wells, I've heard you say ‘PEGI 18’ way earlier than I should have in my life”.

It seems as though Wells has inadvertently impacted many people’s lives.
