After Version 2.4 of Genshin Impact recently hit our screens, gamers everywhere are excited to find out more about the slew of new characters which make an appearance in developer MiHoYo’s “Fleeting Colors in Flight” update.

The action role-playing game which was originally released last year on PC, PlayStation 4, Android and iOS, will be welcoming new characters Yun Jin and Shenhe, as well as an exciting new area and the Lantern Rite festival.

Who are the new Genshin characters?

In the new trailer, we are firstly introduced to Yun Jin, a young “opera star” equipped with a red polearm weapon and donned in a traditional-style purple kimono. She tells her match that her upcoming opera show, “The Divine Damsel of Devastation” tells “the story of a girl becoming a hero” as she showcases her Elemental Skill, “Opening Flourish”.

After, we are met by Shenhe, another Polearm character who wears her white hair in a long plait who has the ability to shred Cryo. In the trailer, she tells her younger counterpart, “perhaps the little girl was not as brave as the opera makes her out to be”.

Both characters are available to play now, as of the update on 5th January.

In a recent interview on Twinfinate with the game’s developer, MiHoYo, the gaming company said they are excited for gamers to “team up with more reliable companions.”

“The two new playable characters joining at the start of Version 2.4 are both polearm users and reliable supports to the team.”

“The new five-star character Shenhe not only wields the power of Cryo herself but also increases the Cryo damage dealt by her teammates. Her Elemental Skill can also boost either nearby party members’ Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst damage, or their Normal, Plunging, and Charged Attack damage,” they explained.

“The four-star character Yun Jin owns a Geo Vision, and she can buff her teammates’ Normal Attacks based on her Defense and the variety of Visions in the player’s party. As an opera master, Yun Jin’s opera performance will be voiced by a professional Peking Opera Artist, while her daily-life dialogues will be delivered by voice actors in different languages.

“Players may also recruit Xiao, Ganyu, and Zhongli in their own Event Wishes during the upcoming version.”
