Gino D'Acampo made his return to the This Morning kitchen today, and as ever, it went off without a hitch. Gulp.

The Italian chef is well-known for making the odd faux-pas here and risque joke there.

I mean, who can forget his 'my grandma would have been a bike' comment a few years back?

Or what about when he made a pretty blue remark about Holly Willoughby's vagina?

It's fair to say the man has form.

And with the popular daytime show going through a bit of a dark period at the moment following Phillip Schofield's departure and the subsequent revelations of his affair, Gino couldn't resist a cheeky gag.

Gino D'Acampo couldn't help himselF.

Introducing the TV chef after a break from the show, host Dermot O'Leary said: "It's been a while but Gino is finally allowed back in the This Morning kitchen."

To which the 46-year-old replied: "I was in Italy for a month and I can't wait to cook for all of you."

Before adding: "Everything is under control, I'm back.

"Any news? Anything in the last month that I should know of?"

Unsurprisingly, his comments hung in the air like a stinking turd, with Dermot awkwardly biting his pen and Holly forcing a laugh.

"No news," she replied.

Gino then said: "No news, OK, good. So we can go straight into the cooking..."

Adding: "Why is nobody talking anymore, what's happened?"

Dermot then jumped in to put an end to the excruciating back and forth, joking: "We need to rephrase, Gino is back for a one-time only... "

And it didn't go unnoticed by fans watching on from home.

Yikes.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: "Well Gino doesn’t disappoint does he 'I’ve been in Italy for a month, any news I need to know about?' Que poor Holly looking awkward #thismorning."

Another commented: "Bet 'This Morning' wish they hadn't booked Gino today now. I was looking forward to baked aubergine as well. #ThisMorning."

"#ThisMorning - @Ginofantastico is back from a few month's break and asks @hollywills 'Any news?' Holly looks at the camera, looks back at Gino, 'No, no news!' I can only imagine her thinking "Don't mention Phil, don't mention Phil!!". Hahahahaha! #philipschofield @thismorning," put a third.

While another added: "Studio fell silent when Gino said 'any news while ive been gone'." #itvthismorning #ThisMorning."

They were asking for trouble when they got him back in, weren't they?
