Harry Styles stopped his concert to call a heartbroken fan’s ex-boyfriend at Madison Square Garden.

The 'As It Was' singer was playing the first show of his 15-night residency at the iconic New York City venue when he encountered a fan in the crowd facing a breakup dilemma.

According to ET Canada, the fan was holding a sign that read: “Dear Harry Styles, my ex called after seven years — what do I do?”

In a video captured by a spectator in the audience, the Brit is seen asking the fan, Ingrid, how long her relationship lasted.

She said they only dated for a year and then revealed his name is Josh.

The British artist scoffed, before saying: “It’s always Josh isn’t it? Can I call Josh?”

As expected, the audience began cheering and hooting while sharpening their pitchforks ahead of calling the disgraced ex-boyfriend.

Harry asked her why they broke up and Ingrid very coyly explained that it was due to 'many reasons'.

Honestly, this woman should run for the oval office; she’s a master of dodging questions.

The fan handed the singer-songwriter her phone. Styles told the crowd ‘can I get some quiet please’ as he dialled Josh's number.

After a moment or two of hush, Harry says: “Is that Josh?”

But the phone call didn't last long, as the startled man on the other end abruptly hanged up.

As Harry threw the phone back to Ingrid and shared with her some pearls of wisdom.

“Ingrid, I wish you all the happiness. It’s not with Josh. There’s someone else. There’s someone else who’s going to treat you with respect,” he told the fan.

“They’re going to love you for who you are. Josh?! It’s never Josh.”

As the video is currently surfing the internet, many are besotted with the star’s sweet gesture.

One person wrote: “You are brilliant Harry baby.”

Another fan said: “Just when you think you couldn’t love him anymore.”

A third person commented: “He hung up? Don’t get back with him.”

While another wrote: “He’s amazing!!”

I’m calling for Harry Styles merchandise with the words ‘it’s never Josh’ to go to right print now.
