Celebrities Pay Tribute To Hugh Hefner Following His Death Aged 91

Celebrities have paid tribute to the founder of Playboy Magazine, Hugh Hefner, following his death at the age of 91.

Announcing his passing overnight, Playboy Enterprises said: "Hugh M. Hefner, the American icon who in 1953 introduced the world to Playboy magazine and built the company into one of the most recognisable American global brands in history, peacefully passed away today from natural causes at his home, The Playboy Mansion, surrounded by loved ones. He was 91 years old."

Hefner built the Playboy brand from scratch over 60 years ago, beginning with the flagship Playboy magazine which famously combined nude shots of women with articles, fiction and interviews. Its subjects would include The Beatles, Madonna, Mariah Carey and Dolly Parton.

The magazine also interviewed political heavyweights including Jimmy Carter and Martin Luther King Jr.

Hefner's enterprise grew to include TV, film, websites, nightclubs and even a clothing range, as well as his famous Playboy Mansion.
