Bet you didn’t see that coming.

A female pornstar has quit her £250,000-a-year job to become... wait for it... a church minister.

Honestly, she has.

Crystal Bassette, 33, has stared in over 100 porn movies, but she's now decided to knock it all on the head and devote herself to God.

Crystal's career in porn began 10 years ago, following a stint as a model and pole dancer, as she wanted to provide a decent future for her young son.

Speaking about the first time she took part in an X-rated movie, she said: "I remember after the scene, I sat in the shower for about two hours crying. Then I stopped after that shoot and didn't go back for about one month.

"I ended up going back to it again and that's when I was numbing myself through taking pain medicine and drinking alcohol to get through the scene.

"It just became like this daily routine for me where I would drop my son off to school in the morning, go do a shoot and come home. It was like a regular 9 to 5 job."

She began splashing her cash in an attempt to make herself better about the way she was living - treating herself to sports cars, a mansion and even buying a nightclub.

"My mind was so messed up and after reading the Bible - I know that I was haunted by a spirit of Jezebel," she continued.

"I just lived for myself and my son and didn't really think about the consequences of making films and dancing and everything."

However, she turned her back on the industry and shortly after doing so devoted herself to God, when she met her husband David, 26, who is also a minister.

Mum-of-three Crystal said: "The day I was saved, I felt like the preacher was just speaking to me directly.

"It was like he was preaching to only me and you know that day I felt God was talking to me through his preaching and everything he said felt right."

"It is definitely the ultimate change. It's going from one extreme to the next. I had to get away from this whole life.

"I look back at my past now and you know I can't say that I really regret anything because it has made me who I am today."

Once she decided to leave the porn industry, Crystal went to college and trained to become a paralegal, before re-training as a pastor and eventually going on to run a church in New York alongside her husband.

Their church, called the New Beginnings Christian Life, is run with the hope of inspiring others to change their lies.

She said: "It's like if I grew up as a teacher, I probably wouldn't be helping people now. I probably would be completely different.

"My past made me who I am today and God has changed my life completely."

Crystal's £250,000-a-year seems like a lot, doesn't it? If you've ever wondered how much your average porn star earns, then wonder no longer, because Derek Hay, founder of LA Direct Models and the winner of 2004's Best New Stud XRCO Award, revealed to the Independent the typical wage packets adult actors and actresses can expect.

"For the right girl, for whatever reason which could vary, to do acts like their first anal scene, first interracial scene, first scene with three, four or five guys, those scenes could pay premium rates. A company's studios would offer a particular girl a much higher rate to induce her to accept the offer to shoot that kind of scene. That's always been the case, but in the past few years a number of different studios have put a lot of prominence on those kind of scenes and the rates offered to models to do that have increased markedly."

He reckons that a 'premium rate' can be anywhere between $2,000 to $6,000 (£1,600-£4,800), whereas scenes involving one male and one female typically offers $1,000 (£800) as a standard rate, while a one gender scene would make you around $700-800 (£550), according to the Independent.

Before adding: "I don't think that adult stars make as much money as the general public perceives them to make.

"I don't think there's anybody, even the biggest stars, who are making more than half a million a year, but if some of the top stars are making $300,000-400,000 per year, by most people's perception that would still be a lot of money I think."

So now you know.

So she must have been doing some pretty premium shoots by the sounds of it.
