People baffled about how you're actually supposed to drink a pornstar martini

A few cheeky cocktails never do any harm, especially as they are so easy to knock back.

But it turns out that those who are partial to a porn star martini might have been showing themselves up all this time while painting the town red, as loads of people are unaware of how you are actually supposed to drink them.

After getting over the flush of embarrassment you feel while shouting the words 'porn star' at the bartender, you will quickly be hooked on the world-famous cocktail.

However, they don't exactly come with a manual on how to drink them - and seen as though the alcoholic beverage comes in two parts, it could do with one.

Presenting these two separate entities to a drunk person who isn't well versed in porn star martini etiquette is asking for trouble, as the majority of people don't have a clue what they're supposed to do with it.

Next time you're at a bar, have a look around and it's highly likely that you will spot a confused-looking boozer clutching their baby shot of Prosecco which comes along with the fruity tipple in utter panic.

Some people pour the fizz into the concoction which is made up of vanilla vodka, fresh passion fruit, passion fruit liqueur, vanilla syrup and lime juice, while others neck it after they've polished the cocktail off.

But what is the proper way to see off a porn star martini?

Well, according to the director of The Cocktail Co, Abby Matthews, there is only one way to do it.

She explained that the cocktail was designed with a specific purpose in mind for the Prosecco pairing it comes with.

The mixologist, who produces ready-to-drink cocktails in a bottle, explained that there really is a right way and a wrong way to drink a porn star martini.

Abby said: "A pornstar martini is the perfect combination of passionfruit, vanilla, vodka and citrus, so it has a very sweet yet tangy flavour.

"It is served best with a Prosecco chaser and garnished with half a passionfruit."

Now, if you don’t already know about the whole chaser vs mixer debate, Abby explains a chaser is a drink of a different kind taken immediately after or before another drink.

"It’s usually a milder drink that is designed to freshen the palette," she added.

However, it’s a little different when it comes to porn star martinis and how you’re supposed to enjoy them best during a drinking session.

Abby explained: "Little do people know, the Prosecco shot should actually be sipped before drinking the porn star martini, to cleanse the palette before enjoying the cocktail."

So I suppose the little glass of bubbles is more of a aperitif than a chaser, but it still puts an end to the debate about whether you are meant to pour it into your porn star.

Abby added: "If you’ve been shotting the Prosecco before, after, or even pouring it in - you’re doing it wrong!

"Pouring the Prosecco can actually ruin the flavours - it alters the taste as it unbalances how the ingredients complement each other. And drinking it after - well, who’d want to cleanse their palette after such a delicious drink?"
