James Franco Responds To Seth Rogen Ending Their 20-Year Working Relationship

James Franco Responds To Seth Rogen Ending Their 20-Year Working Relationship

The actor said he still 'loves' his former collaborator

James Franco has said he still loves Seth Rogen after the actor said he had ‘no plans’ to work with him in the future.

Franco and Rogen worked together on a number of projects over the years, including Pineapple Express and Sausage Party, but following allegations of sexual misconduct made against Franco, Rogen distanced himself from his former co-star.

In an interview back in May, Rogen said he had ‘no plans’ to work with Franco and said the 'dynamic' of their relationship had changed.

Now, Franco has responded, saying he still has love for Rogen and that he ‘gets’ why he said what he did.

Speaking on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Podcast, Franco said: “He was asked about me and… erm.. I just want to say, I absolutely love Seth Rogen.

“I love Seth Rogen. I worked with him for 20 years and we didn’t have one fight. For 20 years - not one fight. He was my absolute closest work friend, collaborator. We just gelled.”

Opening up about Rogen’s comments, he said: “What he said is true. We aren’t working together right now and we don’t have any plans to work together.

“Of course, it was hurtful in context, but I get it, you know, he had to answer for me cause I was silent."

In 2019, actors Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Toni Gaal filed a lawsuit alleging Franco had intimated acting school students into exploitative sexual situations, a deal was reached in February this year - under which Tither-Kaplan and Gaal agreed to drop their claims.

Rogen had previously said it wasn't a coincidence that the pair hadn't worked together since the claims were made.

Speaking to Sunday Times' Culture magazine back in May, he said: "What I can say is that I despise abuse and harassment and I would never cover or conceal the actions of someone doing it, or knowingly put someone in a situation where they were around someone like that."

Rogen said the allegations against Franco have affected their friendship, adding: "I look back to that interview in 2018 where I comment that I would keep working with James, and the truth is that I have not and I do not plan to right now."

He explained that the decision not to work with Franco was 'not a coincidence', saying: "I can say it, um, you know, it has changed many things in our relationship and our dynamic."
