Jason Momoa shaves off famous hair in protest

Khal Drog-oh no, amirite?

Jason Momoa has shaved off his famous hair in protest. Watch it go:

The actor took to social media yesterday (5 September) to urge his followers to do what they can to reduce the amount of plastic they use.

In the video posted to Instagram, Momoa says he's disgusted by the sheer volume of waste in the planet's oceans and the damage it is causing.

With his hair in braids and a woman standing by his side with a pair of clippers, the 43-year-old is seen holding up a couple of chunks of his mop.

He says: "Aloha, everyone.

"Shaving off the hair, doing it for single-use plastics – I’m tired of these plastic bottles, we’ve got to stop. Plastic forks, all that s**t.

"It's just so sad, so please, anything you can do to eliminate single use plastics in your lives, help me, help me.

"Plastic bottles are ridiculous. Now everyone's making the aluminium, which is fantastic, so aloha.

"We're gonna keep going. Oh, man. Alright, I love you guys. Aloha."

He posted the video with the caption: "Here's to new beginnings. Let’s spread the aloha. Be better at protecting our land and oceans. We need to cut single use plastics out of our lives and out of our seas, plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, utensils all of it. lLet’s aloha our ‘āina together aloha j."

Since the vid was shared, it has been viewed thousands of times, with the star's fans praised him for shining a light on an important topic.

One user said: "Thank you for all you do for the planet. I have never used a plastic water bottle and never will.

While someone else put: "Always with the best message, my man."

And while it is a bit of a shock for the Aquaman star, his army of followers seemed to like the new look.

"Hair grows back and it's for a great cause," said one. "And I'm sure it will look amazing.

Another chipped in: "I never thought I'd see the day. Somehow he's still smoking hot – the man's a gift."
