Jenna Ortega says she will kick anyone out of her house if they try to play Tones and I’s ‘Dance Monkey’

Jenna Ortega says she will kick anyone out of her house if they try to play Tones and I’s ‘Dance Monkey’

She absolutely hates the tune by the Australian singer.

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has revealed her deep-seated hatred for Australian artist Tones and I's hit song 'Dance Monkey'.

The 20-year-old actor sat down for Netflix's 'cookie jar' interview with her co-stars Emma Myers and Hunter Doohan from the Addams Family adaptation.

The chit-chat saw them pull random questions out of a jar.

Unfortunately for Tones and I, Ortega was asked: "What song is on your 'Do Not Play' list?"

Spoiler alert: there's a gut punch coming for the Aussie singer.

"I'm not big on pop. A couple years ago, there was a song out called 'Dance Monkey'," the Wednesday star said.

"If anyone ever played that in my house, they're instantly being kicked out."

Someone call an ambulance, because that was a serious burn.

The song is a catchy pop tune that is no doubt seared into your memory as it felt like the song was on repeat for months.

Social media lit up with responses to Ortega's utter distaste at the dance-pop track, and it seems the 'Dance Monkey' haters now have their time to shine. Finally.

One Twitter user said, alongside laughing emojis: "Jenna Ortega hating 'Dance Monkey'. She’s so real for that."

Another added: "Let it be known me and Jenna Ortega would find common ground because we both hate that god awful song 'Dance Monkey'."

A third sang Ortega's praises: "Glad to live in a universe where Jenna Ortega doesn't like 'Dance Monkey'. My queen,"

One other person said: "The 'Dance Monkey' take is why everyone loves Jenna Ortega or SHOULD love Jenna Ortega."

Turns out Ortega isn't the only one hating on that ever-present earworm of a tune.

Tones and I herself revealed that she also despises the song that shot her to international stardom.

The dance hit put her on the map in 2019, and, despite her winning an ARIA for best pop release and it going platinum 16 times over, she said she now 'loathes' the track.

The 24-year-old admitted while the song was 'great' at the time, she did tell radio host Kent 'Smallzy' Small that she didn't 'want to go there anymore'.

"I wrote that song on my own, not trying to do a single thing, and it happened," she said of the US top five hit.

"I loathe that song a lot of the time. A lot of times I don't want to sing it."

Well, that's great news for Jenna Ortega, this writer, and everyone else who apparently hates that track.
