J.K. Rowling says she doesn’t care about her critics because her ‘royalty cheques’ help her sleep at night

J.K. Rowling says she doesn’t care about her critics because her ‘royalty cheques’ help her sleep at night

She had a pretty savage response to someone who asked her how she sleeps at night after book sale losses due to recent anti-trans comments.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has served a savage literary ace after she was asked 'how do you sleep at night knowing you've lost a whole audience from buying your books'.

She sleeps pretty well, apparently.

"I read my most recent royalty cheques and find the pain goes away pretty quickly," Rowling wrote.

Whatever you think about the Harry Potter author, you have to admit that is a pretty good comeback.

And it makes sense.

In 2022, it was reported that J.K. Rowling’s net worth is estimated at a staggering $1 billion, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

She is one of only five self-made female billionaires and is the richest author to have ever lived.

The question she was asked on Twitter stems from the recent controversy surrounding Rowling.

The author, who sometimes goes by the pen name Robert Galbraith, has been accused of being transphobic after writing a series of tweets that copped heat back in 2020.

She wrote in part: "If sex isn't real, there's no same-sex attraction.

"If sex isn't real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives."

As a result, Rowling has been panned by many as a TERF (a trans-exclusionary radical feminist) or a feminist who rejects the assertion that trans women are women, the inclusion of trans women in women's spaces, and transgender rights legislation.

Most recently, Rowling condemned pro-trans rights activists after a 'Let Women Speak’ event in Brighton, England, turned violent.

Hundreds gathered to see Standing For Women founder Kellie-Jay Keen, also known as Posie Parker, give a talk.

The event took an ugly turn when Keen, who denounces transgender women, took the stage and had her speech disrupted by pro-trans activists from the group Reclaim Pride Brighton.

As pictures emerged from the event of police dragging protesters away as they separated the rival groups, J.K. Rowling panned the trans rights group for hurling abuse at event-goers.

She wrote: "I see the Be Kind brigade are once more hiding behind their black masks, throwing smoke bombs, screaming 'scum' at women speaking up for their sex-based rights and howling abuse at lesbians for not doing d**k."

Rowling's continued clashes with the trans community have also led police to investigate bomb, death, and rape threats against the author.
