Joel Dommett Says Fame Means He Can Finally Afford Separate Clippers For Beard And Pubic Hair

Dommett, who hosts ITV’s The Masked Singer, explained how people often wrongly assume that TV presenters are pretty well off

Joel Dommett has said his fame has meant he can finally afford separate clippers for his beard and pubic hair, admitting he finds the fact he’s ‘not poor’ exciting.

Dommett, who hosts ITV’s The Masked Singer, explained how people often wrongly assume that TV presenters are pretty well off, but that this isn’t always the case.

However, since fronting some of the nation’s favourite shows, he’s managed to splash out on some of life’s luxuries... Like hair clippers.

Speaking to The Sun, 36-year-old Dommett said: “If you are on television, people assume you are wealthy, very rich.

“I am not rich but for the first time in my life I am not poor, and that s**t is well exciting.

“For the first time in my life I have separate clippers for my beard and my pubes.

“I had to use the same pair until two years ago.”

Dommett’s first TV appearance was on Casualty way back in 2004 when he was just 19, later going on to win Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2008 and featuring in E4’s Skins in 2010.

Arguably his biggest break came from the 2016 edition of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, when he finished as runner-up to Queen of the Jungle Scarlett Moffatt - later going on to present Extra Camp.

Dommett said it has taken him 'a long time to reach this level of success', having performed some 'terrible gigs' in the past, but that he wants to one day be like fellow ITV stars Ant and Dec.

He continued: “I am that thing now where people point at me then they realise they don’t give a s**t. They go, ‘Oh my God’, then carry on with their lives.

“It’s like when you see a fox. It used to be well exciting but it’s really common now.

“I want to be a polar bear, like Ant and Dec. If you saw Ant and Dec in the wild you would lose your f***ing mind.”

Dommett then joked: “The other day a car stopped next to me on the street and the person said, ‘Are you Joel?’ I was like, ‘Ooh’.

“I was trying to be cool about it but it turned out it was my Uber. I am not famous at all."
