John Farnham’s family has issued a statement about the singer's condition after he was taken to hospital to treat cancer.

After undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in the mouth of the 73-year-old, which involved removing part of his jaw, Farnham’s family released a statement to provide an update to his fans and supporters.

“John remains in a stable condition in ICU following the removal of a cancerous tumour in his mouth on Tuesday,” they said.

"He is awake and responding well to the care he’s receiving.

“The Farnham family want to acknowledge and thank everyone for their ongoing messages and well wishes that have been shared throughout the last week. It really lifts our spirits knowing that everyone is thinking of John.”

A website was also championed by the family.

Weloveyoujohn.com.au is a fanmade site backed by entertainment reporters Angela Bishop, Peter Ford and Richard Wilkins, as well as ABC News Breakfast.

It's for fans who wish to leave a message for Farnham to bolster his spirits in these difficult times.

News of the diagnosis stunned the nation and prompted an outpouring of well wishes from the Australian public, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews.

Last week, the Farnham family also thanked the medical staff for all their hard work during this time.

"We are in awe of the incredible teams of healthcare professionals who have guided us through this very challenging time with such compassion," they said.

"To all the surgeons, doctors, nurses and consultants — thank you one and all so very much."
