Kanye West ripped for selling his new collection in rubbish bags

The singer is said to have insisted the collection was displayed a certain way

Kanye West is being ripped online after allegedly insisting that his new clothing line should be displayed in bin bags.

In my opinion, there are really only two reasons clothes should be in bin bags. 1) You're moving and have no idea where people get cardboard boxes like in the films, or 2) you've had a spring clean and are heading to the charity shop.

Of all the clothes that might be placed into bin bags, though, brand new - in fact, not even purchased - clothes are at the bottom of the list.

West, apparently, doesn't agree as posts on Twitter have revealed that his new Yeezy Gap collection is being sold in shops from giant piles spilling out of black bags on the floor, apparently with no signs or obvious order to divide up sizes or styles.

One post revealed three bags packed to the brim with dark clothes, with the Twitter user claiming a sales associate told them West 'got mad when he saw they had it on hangers and this is how he wanted it'.

"They won’t help you find ur [sic] size too, you just have to just dig through everything," they claimed.

A similar sight was spotted at a Gap store in New Jersey, where Jay Yarrow, a journalist for CNBC, snapped a picture and wrote: "Yeezy Gap trash bags in NJ mall."

The display is certainly unusual, but it's not done much to win over fans. One Twitter user described the bags as giving off 'flea market vibes', while another admitted to thinking the display was a 'mistake'.

Others slammed West for using people experiencing homelessness as inspiration after the rapper took to Instagram last week to share a post which read: "Look to the children. Look to the homeless. As the biggest inspiration for all design."

One critic wrote: "Balenciaga & Kanye’s fetish with the homeless as 'fashion muses' it’s everything that is wrong with billionaires… they no longer see the plight of people, they don’t see humans that are suffering, they see opportunities to be 'edgy' and profit from it… it’s disgusting."

Another wrote: "Why are the rich obsessed with looking poor. They love to play pretend. Wonder if this is Kanye’s way of tricking people with money to act homeless. Like a performance art piece."

West's case wasn't helped by the fact that, after digging through the bags to find their size, customers have to fork out as much as $300 (£248) for items in the collection, which has been created in collaboration with Balenciaga and features a range of black hoodies, T-shirts, sweats and leggings.

Some people have said they're 'glad' they can't afford the items, though there are some supporters out there who have described Ye as a 'visionary' and said they 'loved' his ideas.

Shopping for the new collection might not be the most stress-free experience, but the support he has received indicates there will be people willing to take on the task.

LADbible has reached out to Yeezy Gap for comment on the displays.
