Kanye West Responds To Backlash Over 'Disturbing' Pete Davidson Music Video

"Art is therapy..."

Kanye West has responded to the backlash over his Pete Davidson music video, telling his followers ‘art is therapy’.

Fans were left concerned after the 44-year-old rapper - who recently changed his name to Ye - took his feud with ex Kim Kardashian’s partner to a disturbing new level.

The song, titled ‘Eazy’ and featuring The Game, shows Ye in clay stop-motion form chucking a bag over Davidson’s head and kidnapping him on the back of a motorcycle.

Davidson then gets buried in the ground with only his head poking out, only for Ye’s caricature to throw seeds over the comedian’s head which later bloom into flowers.

When it comes to Ye’s views on his former wife’s new boyfriend, he’s just as literal with the lyrics, which include the line: “God saved me from the crash just so I can beat Pete Davidson's a**.”

The video ends with a text scene that says 'everyone lives happily (which was circled) ever after' and 'except for Skete you know who' - FYI, Skete is Ye’s nickname for Davidson.

Safe to say the fans were worried, with one writing: "This is all types of terrifying. How is his management allowing him to do this s***."

Another said: “So, we are all going to act like Kanye West didn't just publicly threated to KIDNAP, DECAPITATE AND DRAG the body of Pete Davidson for dating his now EX-wife?

“Who told this man that he owned the world like wtf?”

A third added: "Kanye West got a bunch of Yes men around him, cuz somebody who cared about Kanye wouldn’t have let him put those disturbing images of Pete Davidson out."

Amid the backlash, Ye has since responded in an Instagram post shared yesterday (6 March).

Alongside a screenshot of one of the music video scenes, he wrote: “Art is therapy just like this view.

“Art is protected as freedom of speech. Art inspires and simplifies the world. Art is not a proxy for any ill or harm.

“Any suggestion otherwise about my art is false and mal intended.”

As reported by Buzzfeed, people still aren’t buying it, including one social media user who said: “Kanye’s new music video is of him decapitating Pete Davidson.

“HEY! Can we stop calling actual death threats ‘art?’”

Ye has been outspoken about his disdain for Davidson, letting the public know that he isn't at all happy with the situation.

His music video arrived on the same day that Kardashian was declared legally single.

She appeared in a court via video link while Kanye was only represented by his lawyer, who didn't object to the official ruling.

Los Angeles County Judge Cochran asked: “It is my understanding there is no opposition (to your petition), so it is granted."

Kim replied: “Thank you so much."
