Touching reason Keanu Reeves keeps coming back to play John Wick after 10 years

Keanu Reeves has a touching reason why he keeps returning to play John Wick after 10 years starring in the franchise, as fans prepare to enjoy the forthcoming fourth instalment.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is already being hailed as ‘one of the greatest action movies ever made’ ahead of its release later this month.

Reeves forewarned us that the film was one of the hardest films he's ever had to make - a feat that seems to have been translated to screen, as it will also be the longest in the John Wick franchise at two hours and 49 minutes.

It will follow John Wick as he takes on a new villain, with a synopsis saying: "John Wick uncovers a path to defeating the High Table, but before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into new foes."

The new movie will feature the likes of Donnie Yen, Laurence Fishburne, Rina Sawayama, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada and many others.

And, of course, we’ll have Keanu Reeves returning as our titular hero – a role he admits he has a particular soft spot for.

Speaking to the Metro at the premiere for John Wick: Chapter 4, Reeves said: “I try really hard, but with John, you have to try just a little bit harder.”

Explaining what’s brought him back to the character time and time again, having first featured in the film series in 2014, he added: “I like his humour, I like his will, I like his grief and it’s really fun to play him in these films, these films are fun.”

Those who have been lucky to have seen the fourth instalment to the incredible action franchise say it's nothing short of epic - and has been well worth the four year wait.

One critic said: "One of the greatest action movies ever made, #JohnWick4 tops all 3 of its predecessors in storytelling, scope & stakes, countless astonishing set pieces, hard to fathom it’s all contained within one film, Bill Skarsgård slays, a hellaciously thrilling franchise finish (?) 9.5/10."

The latest film is out this month.

Another added: "I watched #JohnWick4 in IMAX and I highly recommend you do the same!! The body count is more than the previous three installments combined. Keanu Reeves, as John Wick, once again does not hold back and is a force to be reckoned with. This film takes you around the world and delivers the most mind-blowing fights and action scenes in a genre-bending epic that is Heart Pounding and Thrilling!"

A third wrote: "John Wick: Chapter 4 pushes the envelope in the action genre as we know it. The cast is STACKED and the fight scenes are dynamic! After 4 movies, you’d think there’d be some fatigue. This is not the case, you’ll just have to see it for yourself."
