There are calls for The Wiggles to represent Australia at next year's Eurovision song contest.

A fan took to Reddit sharing that the legendary child’s music group would be a great choice to represent the nation in the singing competition, especially after taking out Triple J’s ‘Hottest 100’ number one spot earlier this year.

They wrote: “After watching Eurovision, I believe we need an absolute icon to represent Australia next year at Eurovision.

"Given recent Triple J results and performances at Mardi Gras, we should campaign to have The Wiggles perform at Eurovision next year.”

Many fans rallied behind the idea, with one person writing: “Wiggles would be amazing. Fun, Eurovision vibe, Aussie icon. Get those skivvies global!”

While another person commented: “Care to make a submission?”

There were also similar demands on Twitter, with one fan writing: "Australia would win if we sent the original Wiggles #Eurovision.”

Another wrote: “Next year I think Australia should send The Wiggles to Eurovision #Eurovision.”

While a third person commented: “Petition for @TheWiggles to be Australia's entrants for Eurovision next year.”

However, calls for the music group to appear at the global singing contest don’t stop there, as rapper Lil Nas X is also trying to recruit the band for his upcoming Australian tour.

Last month, the ‘Call Me By Your Name’ singer took to Twitter to disclose his plans for his Long Live Montero global tour, writing: “Trying really hard to get the wiggles to coheadline the tour with me. I will keep you guys updated.”

Unsurprisingly many fans loved the idea of the unique collaboration, even pitching the idea for a ‘Call Me By Your Fruit Salad’ mash-up.

One user wrote: “The adult Wiggles concerts go off. This would literally be AMAZING.”

Another commented: “My one-year-old daughter will definitely want to be there for that.”

And a third said: “This would actually work insanely well.”

The Wiggles even thought so too, replying to the Grammy Award-winning rapper: “We’re ready to wiggle with you!”

This bizarre yet possibly phenomenal collaboration could even come to fruition as The Wiggles will be joining the Falls Festival 2022 lineup, where Lil Nas X is also set to perform.

The iconic children's band will also be joined by Alley, G Flip, Genesis Owusu, Peggy Gou, Arctic Monkeys, Young Franco and Ocean Alley.

Ooooooft, we cannot wait to see what that looks like.
